Signs You Shouldn’t Ignore

If you’ve experienced trauma to your eye, have a sudden change in your vision, or are experiencing any of the following, contact us immediately.

  • Flashes and floaters may be a sign of a retinal tear or detachment.
  • Conjunctivitis (pink eye) causes redness, discharge, and irritation and requires fast treatment, especially if it affects vision.
  • Blunt force trauma or impact to the eye needs to be checked immediately.
  • Chemical exposure can cause serious injury. Immediate flushing and follow-up care are essential.
  • Foreign objects like dirt and sawdust should be removed by a professional. Don’t try to remove it yourself.

Corneal Abrasions & Prokera

A corneal abrasion is a scratch on the clear front surface of your eye. It can happen from something as simple as rubbing your eye too hard or getting debris caught under a contact lens. It may feel like something is stuck in your eye, and you may notice redness, tearing, or blurry vision.

We often use Prokera, a healing device made from amniotic (the strong membrane that surrounds a fetus during pregnancy) tissue, to treat moderate to severe abrasions. It’s like a therapeutic contact lens.

Prokera helps reduce inflammation and can speed up healing by delivering nutrients directly to the surface of your eye. It’s comfortable, gentle, and can make a big difference in your recovery.

Preventing Eye Injuries at Work, Home & Play

The best emergency is the one that never happens. Protecting your eyes in everyday situations can go a long way in preventing injury.

  • At work: Wear protective eyewear when working with chemicals, tools, or machinery.
  • At home: Be cautious when cooking, cleaning, or doing yard work—chemicals and sharp tools are common culprits.
  • For kids: Supervise play with objects that can poke or project.
  • Playing sports: We offer sports goggles that protect the eyes without compromising vision or performance.
  • For windy days: Sunglasses offer protection against dust, sand, and flying debris..

We’re happy to help you choose the proper protective eyewear for your needs.
